Egypt reopened its two major Mediterranean ports Saturday after their harbors had been forced into a day-long closure by bad weather.

Rough waves and high wind speeds had prevented ships from entering or leaving the harbors at Alexandria and Dekheila, the Alexandria Port Authority said.

Loading and unloading within the ports continued despite the poor conditions, officials said.
