Accused El Paso mass murderer Patrick Crusius will be hit with new federal charges in addition to the state murder charges he’s already facing — both carrying the death penalty.
El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen said during a city council meeting this week that the feds, who have been investigating the Aug. 3 Walmart shooting as a hate crime and act of terror, will move ahead and prosecute the 21-year-old alleged killer, KVIA-TV reported.
State prosecutors said the day after the box store massacre that Crusius — who authorities believe posted a racist manifesto online before killing 22 people — was being charged in Texas as a domestic terrorist and that prosecutors “will seek the death penalty.”
The FBI has been working with local authorities but has not announced new federal charges.
Greg AllenAPCrusius is accused of walking into the store armed with an assault rifle and unleashing a barrage on unsuspecting customers in one of the deadliest mass shootings in US history.
He is being held without bond.
He reportedly told police after his arrest that he wanted to kill as many Hispanics as possible, and he is believed to be the author of an online post complaining about a “Hispanic invasion of Texas.”
The day after the Walmart shooting, another mass killer, Connor Betts, opened fire with an assault rifle in a trendy neighborhood in Dayton, Ohio, killing nine — including his sister — before being gunned down by police.
