Reaching 62 mph in just 1.785 seconds, the Grimsel has set a world acceleration record in Switzerland.

The electric car with a funny name was built by a team of students and set the record at a Swiss airport in Duebendorf, Central European News reports.

The students at ETH Zurich and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts developed the Grimsel, which reached the speed in less than 100 feet.

The previous record of 2.134 seconds was set last year by the Delft University of Technology.

It took under a year for 30 students to build the four-wheel-drive, carbon-fiber Grimsel, which weighs 370 pounds and generates 200 horsepower.

The Grimsel will be introduced to the public on Nov. 9.
