The captured murderer, who escaped from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora on June 3 and led authorities on a three-week chase, was transported to the the Five Points Correctional Facility in Romulus early Sunday, officials said.
Sweat, 35, will spend 23 hours a day in his cell and be under suicide watch, officials said. His cell will have a bed, writing surface, toilet, sink and shower.
Sweat was shot by a state trooper and captured a week ago in Constable, near the Canadian border. He was treated at Albany Medical Center before he was discharged at 3:05 a.m. and moved to Five Points, authorities said.
Sweat and fellow escaped murderer Richard Matt, 49, cut their way out of Clinton with smuggled tools. Matt was shot to death two days before Sweat was captured.
