On Election Day in the US there were robocalls warning people — in Australia — to “stay home.”

Dozens of Aussies reported receiving a recorded message on their cellphones similar to one that targeted American voters in swing states ahead of the US presidential election, Australian outlet ABC News reported.

The message featured a robotic female voice that cryptically told them, “Time to stay home. Stay safe and stay home.”

“I’ve had four or five of these calls, which I initially assumed was something to do with a COVID-19 message,” a Perth man identified only as Ben told the outlet.

“Coming up as a local mobile number, I wasn’t expecting something linked to the US election. I just blocked the number and moved on.”

The FBI has launched an investigation into some 800,000 robocalls, most of which were made to phone numbers in Florida and Texas, ProPublica reported.

“Be mindful of people that are trying to intimidate you, undermine your confidence,” a senior Department of Homeland Security official told the outlet.
