WASHINGTON – Former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe will not run for president in 2020, The Post has learned.

McAuliffe’s bid would have likely been weighed down by his close ties to Bill and Hillary Clinton, despite his reputation for being a prolific fundraiser for the party as a former Democratic National Committee head.

McAuliffe was one of the few Democrats flirting with a bid left sitting on the fence, with 18 other members of the party deciding to join the race. Vice President Joe Biden, a leader in many of the polls, still hasn’t announced his decision to run, though all signs point to him entering the fray.

McAuliffe is set to make the announcement official during a sit-down with CNN’s Chris Cuomo.
