Astonishing doorbell-camera footage caught the moment a chemical plant explosion lit up the sky in Texas early Wednesday.
Several clips show regular suburban scenes in Port Neches turn menacing with a crack and huge arc of light that fills the sky.
The trembles were so strong, doorbell footage from one house three miles away showed a light fixture crashing to the ground after the 1 a.m. blast at TPC Group’s chemical plant.
Officials say the explosion was felt up to 30 miles from the plant that produces chemical and petroleum-based products, with windows blowing out in several homes in the area. A mandatory evacuation was ordered for everyone within a half-mile of the TPC plant, where three workers were injured.
One worker suffered burns and was taken by medical helicopter to a Houston hospital, while another had a broken wrist and a third a broken leg, Jefferson County Judge Jeff Branick told KBMT.
“We’re thankful. That’s amazing the way it looks out here,” he said of the lack of fatalities.
