A New Hampshire gender reveal party was such a blast that it shook homes in neighboring towns, prompting concerns of an earthquake — and was even felt across state lines in Massachusetts.

Police in Kingston received reports of a loud explosion around 7 p.m. Tuesday, but when they responded to a Torromeo quarry, near the border between New Hampshire and Massachusetts, they were met with a haze of blue — it’s a boy!

Revelers had detonated 80 pounds of Tannerite, an explosive compound typically sold over the counter for firearms practice, mixed with blue chalk dust. The partiers told police they thought the quarry would be the safest place to set off the massive explosion.

“We heard this God-awful blast,” neighbor Sara Taglieri told NBC 10 Boston. “It knocked pictures off our walls … I’m all up for silliness and whatnot, but that was extreme.”

The Kingston Fire Department said it had responded to at least one call about cracks in a house’s foundation, according to the New Hampshire Union-Leader. Meanwhile, multiple people in nearby towns dialed 911, fearing there might have been an earthquake.

One woman in Plaistow, a town about 12 miles south of Kingston, believes the explosion even turned her tap water brown. Maggie Jasmin told the outlet the only other time her water turned brown was when there was construction going on down the street last year and the ground was disturbed. Her family has switched to bottled water and won’t be showering until the water is clear.

No one was injured, and investigators are looking into whether property damage charges will be filed. The person who bought and ignited the Tannerite turned themselves in to authorities, but their identity has not been made public.
