An F-16 fighter jet crashed at an Air Force base outside of Las Vegas on Wednesday morning, officials said.

The jet crashed near Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada during a routine training mission at around 10:30 a.m. local time, according to an Air Force spokesman.

The condition of the pilot was unknown on Wednesday afternoon.

The F-16 is a single seat plane.

The incident takes place one day after a Marine Corp helicopter crashed in Southern California. All four members on board that craft are presumed dead.
