An unlicensed masseur in Connecticut sexually assaulted a woman after asking her if she had a boyfriend and suggesting that she remove her underwear, a lawsuit claims.

A 36-year-old woman from Stratford claims in a lawsuit filed in Bridgeport Superior Court that Hyung Kim sexually assaulted her during a massage at Coco Spa in Shelton in May 2016, the Connecticut Post reports.

Kim, 55, of Fresh Meadows, New York, was arrested in July 2016 after six women claimed he sexually assaulted them while working at the spa. One of Kim’s alleged victims is also suing the spa, according to the newspaper.

“Our claim is that this company hired an individual who was unlicensed and didn’t supervise him and the result is that he used this business as a tool to assault women,” said the woman’s attorney, Arthur Laske III.

Kim, according to the lawsuit, was introduced to the woman as a licensed massage therapist before he began to rub her back while asking her if she had a boyfriend. Kim then suggested that the woman remove her underwear so he could rub the area around her sciatic nerve.

But once the woman complied, Kim groped her breasts before spreading her legs and making unwanted contact with her genital area, according to the lawsuit.

The woman then quickly tried to get dressed, but Kim told her she needed to stretch further. He then pushed her over a massage table and pulled her leg upwards. She only managed to stop Kim’s sexual touching by telling him that she needed water, the lawsuit alleges.

The incident has left the woman “physically and emotionally violated, disgusted, traumatized and powerless,” according to the lawsuit.

Kim, who has been charged with multiple counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and failure to have a massage license, remains free on $40,000 as he awaits trial in Derby.

Kim’s attorney, Joseph Andriola, said he was reviewing the allegations.
