Iowa’s famed Madison County is down a bridge.

One of the covered wooden spans, Cedar Bridge, was destroyed by fire early Saturday morning, The Des Moines Register reported.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said it believes the cause was arson.

Built in 1883, Cedar Bridge burnt down once before in 2002. No arrest was made, and the span was rebuilt in 2004 at a cost of $1 million.

The county’s covered bridges were made iconic by Robert James Waller’s best-selling 1992 novel, “The Bridges of Madison County,” and the 1995 film of the same name starring Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep.
