Federal investigators said Monday evening that they had finished with their search of the Florida home of the parents of Brian Laundrie, a “person of interest” in the disappearance of Long Island native Gabby Petito.

“#UPDATE The #FBI search at the Laundrie residence in North Port has concluded,” the agency’s Tampa, Fla., office tweeted at 6:21 p.m. — after agents spent hours at the North Port home gathering potential evidence in the missing-persons-turned-apparent death investigation.

“No further details since this is an ongoing investigation. We continue to ask for the public’s assistance in the #GabbyPetito investigation. 1-800-CALL FBI or http://tips.fbi.gov. @FBIDenver,” the tweet said.

Authorities on Sunday discovered the remains of someone they believe to be Petito in Wyoming’s Bridger-Teton National Forest. A conclusive ID and cause of death have yet to be announced.

Petito, 22, vanished on a cross-country van trip with Laundrie, her 23-year-old boyfriend. He returned to his parents’ home in the van without Petito on Sept. 1 — then vanished himself last week.
