A “barricaded situation” at a US Army base just outside of DC ended when an individual was taken into custody Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
The incident at Fort Belvoir in Virginia was resolved around 3 p.m., officials said in a statement after the FBI and other law-enforcement agencies rushed to the scene around 8 a.m.
Further information about the situation was not released.
The base is about 20 miles from the nation’s capital in Fairfax County and located along the Potomac River.
Officials at the base said the FBI Washington Field Office, Army Criminal Investigation Division, Fairfax County Police and Virginia State Police were among the first responder agencies on the scene.

Fort Belvoir is home to several Army command headquarters and has more than 2,000 family housing quarters, according to the base’s 2022 strategic plan.
