A Houston man was busted for plotting to blow up the statue of Confederate officer Richard Dowling in that city’s Hermann Park, the feds said Monday.

Andrew Schneck, 25, was charged in a criminal complaint filed in federal court, Acting US Attorney Abe Martinez said in a statement Monday, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Schneck was nabbed Saturday night after a Houston park ranger spotted him kneeling in bushes in front of the Dowling monument, Martinez said.

He allegedly was carrying two small boxes of duct tape and wires.
