Federal authorities are reportedly investigating a number of suspicious packages with explosive components that were sent to military addresses on Monday.

The FBI responded to multiple military installations in the Washington, DC, area after the packages were discovered, according to NBC Washington.

The National Defense University at Ft. McNair in DC was evacuated after a suspicious package was found at about 8:30 a.m., the TV station reported.

That package tested positive for black powder, and an X-ray showed a GPS and a fuse.

Two other packages were sent to Ft. Balvoir — one containing liquid in a vial and a circuit board.

Additional packages were sent to Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in DC, a CIA mail-processing facility, a White House mail-processing facility and Dahlgren Naval Air Station in Virginia, NBC said.

All the packages were determined to be rendered safe.

Some included written letters, and authorities were trying to determine whether they were all connected.
