The police officer who killed Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., last summer said the teen had the weapon pressed against his hip and charged at him even after being shot, according to the first detailed account of what he told investigators.
Officer Darren Wilson said after he confronted the 18-year-old, Brown slugged him, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch. The two then struggled for the cop’s weapon inside the police SUV.
Wilson told investigators he fired two shots and hit Brown in the hand. The teen then ran away, but subsequently turned back and rushed him, prompting Wilson to fatally open fire. The teen did not have his hands up.
The Brown family lawyer called the story “absurd from beginning to end,” the paper said.
