A Florida inmate is wanted after he was mistakenly freed from jail on his birthday, officials said.

Eduardo Cabana was “released in error” on Monday, which was his 52nd birthday, from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, the Miami Herald reported.

He had been serving time on charges that include obstruction by a disguised person, shooting or throwing a deadly missile and criminal mischief.

It’s unclear how the mistake happened, but officials are now racing to find him.

The Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department said it’s also launching an investigation into his release, the newspaper reported.

“The priority of the MDCR is apprehending the offender as quickly as possible, and at this time, we have all resources focused on the search,” said spokesman Juan Diasgranados.

“As soon as the error was discovered, the MDCR requested the assistance of our law enforcement partners to assist in locating the offender.”
