Two 12-year-old children were shot at a Miami bus stop early Thursday after refusing to hand over their cellphones to a 16-year-old gunman, police said.

The kids were headed for school, waiting for a bus, when a young gunman strode up to them at 7:57 a.m. and demanded they give up their phones.

They refused and the teen opened fire and fled — reportedly sprinting through neighborhood backyards to escape.
