Jeffrey Epstein associate Larry Summers will resign from his Harvard University professorship over his associations with the late pedophile, a university spokesperson has said.
Summers, 71, who visited Epstein’s notorious private island, and took trips on his personal jet, “The Lolita Express,” will resign from his academic and faculty appointments at Harvard at the end of the academic year, the Harvard Crimson reported Wednesday.
The former Harvard President also resigned Wednesday as co-director of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at the Harvard Kennedy School following 15 years in the role, the spokesperson confirmed.

“Free of formal responsibility, as President Emeritus and a retired professor, I look forward in time to engaging in research, analysis, and commentary on a range of global economic issues,” he added in a statement to the Crimson.
Summers, a pal of both Obama and the Clintons, has seen his reputation and status collapse in just a matter of months, following November’s release of his extensive communications with convicted sex offender Epstein.
The pair regularly messaged each other about women, politics, and Harvard-linked projects, the emails released by the Department of Justice show.
Summers even reportedly honeymooned on Epstein’s island, flying with his wife, Elisa F. New, and Ghislaine Maxwell, on “The Lolita Express” after their Dec. 11, 2005, wedding in Cambridge, Massachusetts, flight records show.
He was also named as one of Epstein’s estate executors in the financier’s draft wills, along with former Barclays chief executive Jes Staley, the Justice Department’s records show.
The former Harvard president also resigned on Wednesday as co-director of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at the Harvard Kennedy School. APSummers’s last correspondence with Epstein came in July 2019, a day before his arrest and just weeks after the former Wall Street financier was found dead in his New York prison cell.
Harvard has faced calls to sever ties with Summers since November’s release, with OpenAI, Bloomberg, and the New York Times also urged to cut him loose.
The prestigious Massachusetts institution announced in November that it was opening a new inquiry into former president Summers, who said he was “deeply ashamed” about his actions at the time.

Harvard came under fire after it emerged it launched a secret investigation into two students who filmed Summers discussing his relationship with Epstein during class.
Summers stopped teaching his economics class back in November, the same month he lost a lucrative consulting gig at “woke” hedge fund DE Shaw, The Post revealed.
In December, he was banned for life from the prestigious American Economic Association after submitting his resignation over his ties to Epstein.
Summers did not respond immediately to a request for comment, but Jason Newton, Director of Media Relations & Communications at Harvard Public Affairs and Communications, sent a statement to The Post.
“In connection with the ongoing review by the University of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein that were recently released by the government, Harvard Kennedy School Dean Jeremy Weinstein has accepted Professor Lawrence H. Summers’ resignation from his leadership position as co-director of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government,” Newton said.
“Professor Summers has announced that he will retire from his academic and faculty appointments at Harvard at the end of this academic year and will remain on leave until that time,” he added.
