Three people were killed and four others injured when a horse and buggy collided with a dump truck in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, according to state troopers.

The crash happened outside of Quarryville shortly before 8 a.m. Monday.

Seven young people were riding in the buggy when it failed to stop at a traffic signal and was hit by the garbage truck in the middle of an intersection.

Three of the buggy passengers were pronounced dead, and the other four are being treated at the hospital for injuries.

The driver of the truck was unharmed and remained at the scene.

Buggies are common in Lancaster County, which hosts a large settlement of Amish, and numerous fatal crashes have been reported involving the community over the years.

In November, an Amish teenager was hit by a car and killed in upstate New York.

Earlier this spring, four Amish children were killed in a horse and buggy accident in Kentucky.

In August, a crash involving a pickup truck and a horse and buggy claimed the life of an Amish teenager and seriously injured three other people. In June, a 10-month-old girl died when a horse-drawn Amish buggy she was riding in was struck by a car.
