These hens have got some pluck.

A group of chickens on a farm in France ganged up and killed a fox who made his way into their coop.

The juvenile fox is believed to have slid into the coop containing 3,000 chickens at a farming school in Brittany.

“There was a herd instinct and they attacked him with their beaks,” Pascal Daniel, head of farming at the agricultural school Gros-Chêne in Brittany, told Agence France-Presse.

Students discovered the juvenile fox’s body the next day in a corner of the coop.

“It had blows to its neck, blows from beaks,” Daniel said of the 5- or 6-month-old fox.

The last time a fox snuck into one of the school’s chicken coops was over a year ago, and it turned out much worse for the hens.

But, Daniel added, “They can be quite tenacious when they are in a pack.”
