France ‘jihad’ bust
French police arrested an adherent of “radical Islam” yesterday in connection with the stabbing of a French soldier last week.
The French interior minister said in a statement that the suspect in the attack was arrested near Paris yesterday.
The attack on Saturday in a busy underground shopping and transport hub echoed the grisly killing of a soldier in London, but authorities have so far not established a link between the two cases.
Investigators said the 22-year-old man under arrest has been a follower of a “traditionalist, even radical, Islam for the last three or four years.”
But the sources urged caution in a case still in its early stages, saying the suspect was not known to be a jihadist.
