Sen. Al Franken said Thursday that he has a different memory of a rehearsal with former Playboy Playmate Leeann Tweeden, who accused the former “Saturday Night Live” comedian of kissing and later groping her during a USO tour in 2006.

“I certainly don’t remember the rehearsal for the skit in the same way, but I send my sincerest apologies to Leeann,” said Franken, a Democrat from Minnesota. “As to the photo, it was clearly intended to be funny but wasn’t. I shouldn’t have done it.”

Tweeden, a radio show host for KABC, said Franken, the headliner for the USO show, forced a kiss on her while they were rehearsing a skit he had written.

“I walked away. All I could think about was getting to a bathroom as fast as possible to rinse the taste of him out of my mouth,” she wrote on the news outlet’s website. “I felt disgusted and violated.”

Later, after the tour concluded, she was looking at photos of their return flight to the United States.

One of the pictures showed Franken, who was elected to the Senate in 2008, grabbing her breasts as she slept on the plane while she was wearing a flak vest and a Kevlar helmet.

”I felt violated all over again. Embarrassed. Belittled. Humiliated,” she said. “How dare anyone grab my breasts like this and think it’s funny?”
