A French mayor swallowed a rat – as well as his pride – after losing a bet when Paris Saint-Germain failed to qualify over powerhouse Barcelona in soccer’s Championship League.

Mont-de-Marsan Mayor Charles Dayot exuded supreme confidence after PSG beat Barcelona 4-0 in the first leg of last season’s Round of 16.

“If Barca qualifies, I’ll eat a rat and I’ll vote for [left-wing presidential candidate Jean-Luc] Melenchon,” promised Dayot, who was elected mayor of the southwestern community this month, The Local reported.

Unfortunately for him, the Catalans had other plans and defeated PSG 6-1 in the second leg of the knockout rounds.

Dayot admitted he hadn’t carried out the second promise, but kept his word to consume the revolting rodent after the rout.

The feast took place Saturday during the Fetes de la Madeleine, a local festival, where he dined on the vermin with a PSG shirt as a napkin.

The game mayor even said the “very well cooked” rat tasted “a little bit like rabbit.”
