An alleged gang member who is wanted in connection with nine murders was found hiding out in a Georgia hotel room, authorities said on Wednesday.

Antariouse Caldwell — who was classified as Georgia’s Most Wanted by the FBI — surrendered to authorities outside a motel in Clayton County on Tuesday, according to the local sheriff’s office.

Caldwell is part of the Gangster Disciples street gang and was indicted on murder charges last month as part of his gang activity, WGCL-TV reported.

A total of 32 Gangster Disciples were part of a 2016 indictment handed down in Georgia. The indictment alleges that members of the gang committed 10 murders and 12 attempted murders.

Caldwell is considered violent and eluded police capture on multiple earlier occasions.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said that Caldwell was fortunate to be transferred to federal authorities after his arrest.

“Fortunately for Caldwell, he was turned over to the F.B.I. where he can avoid facing the wall at Georgia’s toughest para-military jail,” the office said in a statement.
