WASHINGTON — Two family members of Eric Garner have chosen different sides in the Democratic presidential race.

In the ad released by Sanders’ campaign Thursday, Erica claims that the Vermont senator is the only candidate in the race speaking up for black lives.

Meanwhile, Eric Garner’s mother, Gwen Carr, is preparing to campaign for Hillary Clinton, sources said.

Both candidates have been highlighting African-American issues as their campaigns head into South Carolina, which has a large population of black Democratic voters.

Earlier Thursday, Clinton rolled out endorsements from the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, where Rep. John Lewis dismissed Sanders’ claim of being a civil rights activist.

“I never saw him,” Lewis said.

Clinton is hoping that support in the African-American community will offset the huge backing Sanders has among young voters.
