California Gov. Gavin Newsom called Donald Trump an “invasive species” during a blistering attack on the president and his administration at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday.

The Democratic governor said he is “living rent-free in Trump’s head,” calling himself one of the more “aggressive American politicians” standing up to the administration and touting his social media trolling as a political success.

“We’re deeply in their head, I think the affordability agenda appears to be, I’m living rent-free in Trump’s head,” he said.

The remarks came a day after Newsom claimed the administration sidelined him from an event by pressuring organizers to disinvite him from a planned “fireside chat.”

In what capped a jam-packed week in the Swiss resort town, Newsom also addressed comments by the Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who recently referred to the governor as a “Ken doll.”

“The Treasury secretary talked about a Barbie doll,” Newsom responded. “It was as if he was reading a diary and had just broken up with someone. That was the secretary of the treasury using valuable time yesterday on the world stage.”

Newsom also took aim at colleagues within his own party, expressing frustration with what he described as Democrats’ muted response to the administration.

Turning back to Trump, he said that the president’s legacy will not endure.

“Donald Trump is a historic president — that’s absolutely correct,” Newsom said. “He’s historically unpopular in the United States of America. In every category he’s unpopular. He will be remembered in years, not decades.”
