California Gov. Gavin Newsom showed off kneepads he’s selling on his website during the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, waving the crude anti-Trump campaign merch onstage at the elite forum.
Newsom showed off kneepads he’s selling on his website. REUTERSThe $100 red kneepads were available for pre-order on Newsom’s website, with the proceeds going to fund his Campaign for Democracy committee — which is boosting his profile ahead of a widely expected run for president in 2028.
“For all your groveling to Trump needs — now in Republican red. For the low low price of your soul,” reads the product description.
It came after Newsom continued to claim that everyone from European leaders to US colleges, law firms and corporate bigwigs were bending the knee to Trump and “rolling over” for his approval.
“There are kneepads that are available to purchase,” Newsom said during an event at the Switzerland conference, showing off the merchandise on stage.
“The last round of kneepads sold out, just as our law firms are selling out, many American universities are selling out and yes many corporate leaders are selling out to this administration,” he continued.
“It breaks my heart. People need to stand up,” he said.
The Democratic governor, earlier this week in Davos, also made a “kneepad” quip when asked if he had a message for European leaders regarding Trump’s bid to buy Greenland.
This comes after Newsom said foreign leaders continue to “roll over” to Trump’s demands. REUTERS“It’s time to stand tall and firm and have a backbone. I can’t take this complicity, people rolling over. I should have brought a bunch of kneepads for all the world leaders,” he said.
He also accused the White House of barring him from speaking at an event at the conference Wednesday.
“Under pressure from the White House and State Department, USA House (a church acting as the official US pavilion) is now denying entry to Gavin Newsom to speak with media after Fortune — the official media partner — invited him to speak,” Newsom’s press office posted on X.
He also directly addressed the alleged snub during Thursday’s event, according to SFGATE.
“I was gonna speak last night, it was a well-established event at the USA House, a simple conversation, discussion, after Trump’s speech, they made sure that I didn’t.”
“They made sure it was canceled. And that’s what’s happening in the United States of America. Freedom of expression, Freedom of assembly. Freedom of speech. It’s America in reverse.”
The publicity stunt kneepads are set to be released Friday and will be available “in bulk,” Newsom said.
