A guitar played by George Harrison of The Beatles and valued at half a million dollars is up for auction Saturday at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square.
Barratts music store in Manchester, England, loaned Harrison the Maton Mastersound MS-500 electric guitar in 1963 for a couple of hours while his own was under repair, according to Julien’s Auctions.
Harrison liked the sound so he kept the loaner for the summer.
