A Georgia man was killed in Tropical Storm Zeta when strong wind gusts uprooted a tree, authorities said Thursday.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Capt. Jay Baker said the large oak tree fell through the corner of a mobile home in Acworth.

The tree killed the unidentified man, but spared two other adults and a child home at the time of the incident, Baker said.

The man’s death marked the third casualty from Zeta, which made landfall as a Category 2 hurricane in southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday before being downgraded to a tropical storm.

Leslie Richardson, 58, drowned when he was trapped in rising seawater while taking video of the storm in Biloxi, Mississippi, authorities said.

Then a 55-year-old man was electrocuted by a downed power line in New Orleans, a coroner said.

The storm raged through the Southeast on Thursday, leaving more than 2.5 million homes and businesses without power in Atlanta and other areas.
