Authorities searching the home of Apalachee High School shooting suspect Colt Gray found documents in his room referencing the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, according to a new report.

Getty ImagesThe 14-year-old boy, who was charged for the murder of two students and two teachers, had writings in his bedroom that included references to the 2018 massacre that left 17 dead in Florida, law enforcement officials told CNN.

Officials have yet to name a motive behind the Apalachee school shooting, but Gray’s family said he had been struggling with his mental health and trouble at home.

His aunt, Annie Brown, told the Washington Post on Thursday that the boy had been “begging for help from everybody around him.”
Gray’s alleged rampage broke out on Wednesday when police said he killed two 14-year-old students, Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, as well as two teachers, Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Christina Irimie, 53.
Police say the alleged shooter’s motive is not known at this time. 11Alive

The FBI said it had previously investigated Gray in May 2023 over online school shooting threats, which included posts with photos of guns.
Gray, then 13, and his father were interviewed by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at the time.
The teen is expected to appear in court at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, where additional charges are Expected, according to the GBI.
