A gunman shot the windows out of a local Republican Party office in Florida — and the chairman of the GOP chapter immediately blamed Democrats for the attack.
“I’m looking at the busted out window that some nice Democrat did,” Volusia County Republican Party chairman Tony Ledbetter said after the shooting on Monday.
The gunman fired four shots into a satellite office of the Volusia County Republican Party sometime between 4 p.m. Sunday and Monday morning, authorities said.
The rounds shattered windows and damaged drywall at the office, which is about five miles south of Daytona Beach on South Nova Road. No one was injured in the shooting.
South Daytona police Capt. Mark Cheatham said police recovered slugs wedged in the walls after the shooting. Officers were also working with neighboring businesses to find video footage of the shooting.
Chairman Ledbetter, wearing a Make America Great Again hat, spoke to local reporters Monday morning and placed blame on Democrats, but said the GOP would be win big in the upcoming midterm elections.
