A Grammy-nominated gospel singer was nearly booted off a Delta flight when she refused to stop performing her new single – which she insisted was just her “doing what the Lord is telling me to do.”
Detroit-born Bobbi Storm, 36, a featured vocalist in the 2024 Grammy-nominated album, “The Maverick Way” by the Christian group Maverick City Music, shared a video of her attempt to sing on the plane.
The Instagram clip shows her walking up the aisle and telling passengers that she is “charting right now on the Billboards” as a flight attendant asks he her to “sit down and be quiet.”
Storm replies that “the seatbelt sign is off so it’s not a disturbance.”
After sitting down, she announces: “I just found out I’m up for two Grammys. My very first time, you guys.
“I sing for the Lord and my song is out on all platforms and is called ‘We Can’t Forget Him.’
“I wanna share this with you, guys,” Storm adds to a smattering of applause.
Grammy-nominated gospel vocalist Bobbi Storm sparred with a Delta flight attendant when she tried to sing her new single to the passengers. Bobbi Storm / InstagramThe crew member appears unimpressed and tells her to be quiet, but she claims the other passengers are “enjoying it.”
“Well, I’m not enjoying it. I’m asking you can you please be quiet?” the frustrated-sounding crew member shoots back.
“Am I gonna go to jail if I don’t?” Storm asks him, to which he asks her if she is just “willing and able to be quiet right now.”
Storm told the passengers she was “doing what the Lord is telling me to do.” Bobbi Storm / Instagram
“I’m doing what the Lord is telling me to do,” she answers.
At that, the staffer tells her he is “your flight leader,” saying: “I need you to follow my instruction. My instructions are for you to answer my question. Are you able to be quiet right now?”
Storm then turns to her captive audience and asks: “What do you think.”
The crew member told her he’s her “flight leader” and asked her to “keep quiet.” Bobbi Storm / InstagramAfter no one voices support, the flight attendant informs her: “OK, if you’re not able to follow my instruction, you will not be taking this flight.”
She reluctantly gives in and says: “If that’s the case, then that’s fine. If you’re the person in charge of it all, then that’s fine.”
But when the employee walks away, Storm turns back to the passenger and in a hushed tone says: ”I’ll sing it on a low for y’all in the back, if that’s OK. The song is called “We Can’t Forget Him.’
Storm said she was “doing what the Lord is telling me to do.”
Bobbi Storm / Instagram“I don’t know the issue. No one else has ever had an issue,” she adds about the crew member.
Storm then begins to sing while people around her awkwardly glance away from the impromptu performance.
In another video, Storm later claimed that Delta reached out to apologize.
“There was no rules being broken. It was just me spreading my joy with people after they gave me the go to do so,” she said.
Storm said Delta later called her to apologize. Bobbi Storm / InstagramThe singer said she didn’t want the flight attendant to be reprimanded or to lose his job over the incident.
“I just hope that if he watches this, he’s able to learn a valuable lesson on how to treat other people,” she said, adding that people can support her by streaming her music.
Many social media users expressed disapproval over her actions and videos – with some pointing out that passengers must follow the flight crew’s instructions.
“I’m a Christian and a Flight Att. This is out of order … It would have been in order if you would have prepared the flight atts (by asking if it was OK to sing or present or whatever) ahead of time … and there would not have been a problem,” one person wrote.
Another user said Storm was “completely in the wrong” and hoped she ends up on the no-fly list.
A third added: “This could be deemed annoying, people are tired, travelling and don’t want to be bothered.”
The Post has reached out to Delta for comment.
