A knucklehead tried to use fireworks to get rid of the bees taking up residence in his garage — but ended up burning down the entire structure instead, according to a report.

Michigan man Mike Tingley hoped the smoke from the pyrotechnics would vanquish the insects from their hive on Monday, but the rockets blasted off and lit up the sky — and the building, MLive.com reports.

“The homeowner was doing something with a smoke bomb trying to get a bees nest out of the garage,” said Grand Blanc Fire Chief Bob Burdette told the news outlet.

Tingley’s wife and daughter were both home at the time, but the family and their house were fine, he said.

The premature backyard barbecue fizzled his plans for a regular one on Tuesday, however.

“We really weren’t going to celebrate the Fourth of July so much as we just have fun in our backyard, we like to have barbecues, we had a patio back there,” he told the news site.

“It is depressing losing a place where we had a lot of fun, but everyone is safe and that’s the main thing.”
