A rare, jewel-encrusted Harry Potter book, handwritten by JK Rowling, hits the auction block next month — and could fetch $620,000
Rowling’s “The Tales of the Beedle the Bard” goes under the Sotheby’s London hammer on Dec. 13 with proceeds going to the author’s charity Lumos.
There are handwritten manuscripts of “Beedle” – six done for close pals of Rowling’s and this one for charity auction.
This edition is bound in leather and studded with semi-precious stones.
The book includes a personal inscription from Rowling to publisher Barry Cunningham, who helped her launch “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” in 1997.
It reads: “To Barry, the man who thought an overlong novel about a boy wizard in glasses might just sell … THANK YOU.”
