The family of missing Hawaiian photographer Hannah Kobayashi insisted that the search for her is “far from over” after LA cops declared her “voluntarily missing.”
“We are deeply grateful for the urgency and dedication law enforcement has shown in investigating Hannah’s disappearance,” the family said in a statement posted to social media.
Kobayashi went missing in Los Angeles in early November. Facebook“Our family remains hopeful that Hannah is safe, and urges everyone to continue the search,” the statement added. “The search is far from over, and we are committed to doing everything possible to bring her home safely.”

Police insist there is no evidence Kobayashi was a victim of foul play. Los Angeles Times via Getty ImagesInvestigators believe she dumped her phone after reaching LAX and skipping a connecting flight — and she had “expressed a desire to step away from modern connectivity,” LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell said, noting that there was no evidence she was the victim of foul play or the target of sex traffickers.
Still, the family wants “answers and a resolution that ensures Hannah’s safety” as it urged law enforcement and the public to “stay focused on finding her and to avoid speculative conclusions.”
