Authorities searched a wetland area in Massachusetts on Friday for the remains of a 5-year-old New Hampshire girl who disappeared in 2019 and is presumed dead, according to police.
New Hampshire state troopers combed through the marsh along Route 107 in Revere, Mass., as part of an investigation into the alleged murder of Harmony Montgomery, according to the Boston Globe.
At least 18 troopers from a unit trained to search “difficult terrain and environments” were aided by canine cops and drones, Massachusetts State Police spokesman Dave Procopio told the paper.
“Today’s search, which began shortly after 9 a.m., was prompted by information developed by investigators,” Procopio said in an email.
Little Harmony was likely murdered in Manchester, New Hampshire, around the time she vanished in December 2019, state Attorney General John Formella said last year.
Her father, Adam Montgomery, 32, was charged in October with second-degree murder for allegedly beating the girl to death.
He was also charged with abusing a corpse, falsifying evidence and tampering with witnesses.
