A Florida hearing is slated for Thursday to determine whether accused mass murderer Nikolas Cruz may have an inheritance to gain in a few years.
The 19-year-old who allegedly went on a deadly shooting rampage at Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School may stand to receive a reported $800,000 inheritance from his late adoptive mother’s estate.
Cruz’s mother, Lynda Cruz, died of pneumonia Nov. 1 at the age of 68 — less than three months before Nikolas allegedly opened fire in his former high school on Valentine’s Day, killing 17. The teen’s father died years before.
Rocxanne Deschamps, a longtime family friend who took in Nikolas and his brother, Zachary, after Lynda died, is seeking to become the administrator of the estate.
Nikolas Cruz has been charged with 17 counts of murder in one of the deadliest school shootings in US history.
