A grief-stricken Michigan man died just an hour after learning that his partner of more than 35 years was killed in a car crash, according to reports.

“I don’t know what I’m gonna do” were Ron Niemi’s last words to his son, uttered after getting the news that longtime companion, Barbara Butler, 64, had just died, according to WNEM-TV.

An hour later, the 59-year-old Niemi collapsed and was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The couple — whose family included nine children, 25 grandchildren and five great grand kids — was inseparable, according to son Rick.

“They had a lot of love for each other,” Rick said. “Everybody just knew them as Barb and Ron. Everybody knew they were together. You didn’t really see one without the other.

“It just feels like it’s not real yet,” he said

The couple was buried Tuesday morning.
