Queen Maxima of the Netherlands denied allegations that she was “mocking” President Trump in front of cameras at last week’s NATO summit in The Hague.

The Queen claimed she was not poking fun at the president in the widely scrutinized moment, but was thanking someone off camera.

“I said ‘thank you’ to someone who had helped,” she told Dutch news outlet AD.

She said her interactions with the president during his visit were a “pleasant experience.”

A split-second facial expression from Maxima spotted by internet sleuths shows her appear to move her mouth like Trump does when he speaks as she and her husband King Willem-Alexander made small talk with the president.

CNN editor Vani Mehrotra said in a X post that “Queen Maxima of the Netherlands is believed to be mocking Donald Trump.”

Another netizen thought Maxima was making a “hilarious” dig at Trump.

“I’ve never been a fan of our stiff monarchy, but Queen Maxima rocks it! Treat him like a baby,” they posted.

“Yes, she was mocking him, no doubt,” another speculated.

Even if she was teasing him, one user remarked they “appear to be having a good time” and noted that the Queen is known for her sense of humor.

The Queen’s 21-year-old daughter, Princess Catharina Amalia, who is heir to the throne, remarked that it was “very cool” to meet Trump, according to AD.

The Argentina-born queen, 54, is widely regarded as a fashion icon and notably stole the show as she posed with world leaders in a lime green caped jumpsuit at last week’s defense meeting.
