The San Diego synagogue shooting victim killed while trying to save her rabbi from an anti-Semitic gunman was remembered Monday as a hero whose selflessness went far beyond her final act.

Lori Gilbert-Kaye’s husband, daughter, family members and fellow congregants tearfully eulogized her during funeral services at the Chabad of Poway synagogue — the site of last weekend’s attack.

“My wife was a person who did so much good in her life … and whatever I did that might not have been good, she repaired and made it look good,” said Gilbert-Kaye’s husband, Dr. Howard Kaye, who tried to perform CPR on her following the attack but fainted when he realized it was his wife.

“I did CPR on her,” Kaye said, grimacing. “There was no blood. She went very quickly and she did not suffer.”

Kaye said his wife had installed a “peace pole” outside their home, with the words: “may peace prevail on earth” written in six languages and invited mourners to come visit it.

“May peace prevail on the earth. That is the universal message of Lori and our household,” Kaye said.

His daughter, Hannah, 22, who wore one of her mother’s favorite pink dresses to the service, spoke about her kindness, generosity and forgiving nature.

“I know my mother has already forgiven this man who shot her,” she said. “Because [of] her mission, how she lived her life and her decision to protect the life of the leader of our community.”

Her final act “automatically vanishes the hatred that tried to take her light,” Hannah said.

“Her light has reached all crevasses of our planet.”
