A shoeless, 5-year-old boy in a remote Alaskan village carried his 18-month-old sibling nearly half a mile to a neighbor’s home in sub-zero temperatures Tuesday after they were left home alone during a power outage.

The youngsters, from Venetie, a village of 175 people, suffered cold-weather injuries after traveling in just socks and light clothing.

“The temperature in Venetie at the time was -31F,” Alaska State Troopers said in a statement.

They were allegedly left home alone by Julie Peter, 37, who was arrested on suspicion of endangering the welfare of a child.

Her relationship with the kids wasn’t clear.
