A 23-year-old Arizona man died after plunging 80 feet off a trail at the Grand Canyon, authorities said.

Jaiquan Carter, of Phoenix, was hiking along the South Kaibab Trail above the Black Bridge at the famed national park early Tuesday when he fell to his death, the National Park Service said.

Park officials said they were notified of Carter’s death around 7:40 a.m.

The park service and Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating the incident but no further details are currently available.

According to mygrandcanyonpark.com, about a dozen people die at the park every year.

In July, a 59-year-old Arizona woman fell to her death while trying to snap a photo at the park.

In June, a California woman died after collapsing in 114-degree teat at the canyon.
