Hillary Clinton and Monica Lewinsky found common ground Tuesday over the conviction of rapist Harvey Weinstein.
“I think the jury’s decision speaks for itself. It was time for an accounting, and the jury clearly found that,” said the former first lady, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Clinton — whose hubby, President Bill Clinton, had an affair with White House intern Lewinsky in the 1990s — was at the Berlin Film Festival promoting her new Hulu documentary when she also was asked about Weinstein’s support for her 2016 presidential run.
Clinton replied that the now-disgraced mogul “supported every Democratic campaign” including President Barack Obama.
Lewinsky also commented on Twitter about Weinstein’s conviction Monday in New York.
“found myself emotional + so grateful for this… not just for the women who were grossly abused by harvey f. weinstein but for all women who’ve been marginalized + abandoned by the justice system at times, sectors of society + some media outlets/journos. this is a win for #MeToo,” Lewinksy wrote.
Weinstein would brag about his powerful connections, including his ties to former President Clinton, to women, a victim testified at the fallen Hollywood titan’s rape trial.
Onetime aspiring actress Jessica Mann, 34, told Manhattan Supreme Court jurors that the formerly powerful producer “loved to tell me that Bill Clinton was his neighbor.”
“He’d talk about all this money he’d raise for big organizations,” she said. “He had a story for most anyone in the world you asked him really, but the biggest one for me was Bill Clinton.”
A seven-man, five-woman jury found Weinstein guilty of criminal sexual act for forcibly performing oral sex on former “Project Runway” production assistant Mimi Haleyi in 2006 and third-degree rape for an attack on Mann in 2013.
The jury acquitted Weinstein of the top two charges of predatory sexual assault involving “The Sopranos” actress Annabella Sciorra and first-degree rape for the attack on Mann.
He faces up to 29 years behind bars, as well as additional charges in Los Angeles.
