A homeless man was busted for sexually molesting a 6-year-old girl at an emergency Hurricane Michael shelter in Florida, local police said.
John Stapleton, 60, inappropriately touched the girl Thursday inside Davidson Middle School — which had been used to house those forced to evacuate during the deadly storm, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said.
A witness told cops she saw a video of the young victim being touched “in a lewd manner underneath her clothing.”
Stapleton confessed that he had touched the girl — but insisted it was not in a lewd manner.
He was charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim under the age of 12, authorities said.
By Friday morning, 11 people were reported dead as a result of the storm — which has been downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone.
In Florida, officials reported four deaths related to the storm, including a man who was killed when a tree crashed through the roof of his home in Greensboro.
Almost 1.1 million homes and businesses were without power from Florida to Virginia early Friday.
