A 29-year-old woman who was working as a hostess on a UK-flagged sailboat has been found dead aboard the 72-foot vessel that caught fire in an Italian marina while she was asleep.

Giulia Maccaroni, a resident of San Vito Romano, a commune about 25 miles from Rome, went to sleep on the Morgane after telling fellow crew members that she was tired after a cruise Monday, according to Newsflash.

The boat, which sails under the British flag and is owned by a company in Naples, later caught fire in the commune of Castellammare di Stabia near the southern Italian city, the news outlet reported.

Firefighters found her body below deck without burns or other injuries, Newsflash reported, citing the Italian La Stampa newspaper. The blaze mostly damaged the Morgane’s exterior.

It is believed Maccaroni was unaware of the fire and probably suffocated in her sleep, according to the report.

Her family members were traveling down from Rome to identify the body, which was to undergo an autopsy, and assist authorities in the investigation.
