Altruistic Aussies are rushing to aid hot-and-bothered koalas who are passing out because of stifling heat.
A four-day heatwave in the coastal city Adelaide pushed temperatures well above 110 degrees over the weekend, taking a toll on the area’s koala population.
Animal-loving humans — some of them working for the city’s Koala and Wildlife Hospital — rushed to give the marsupials a helping hand.

The relentless heat caused many of the arboreal mammals to come down from the trees and venture onto the streets in search of something to drink.
Adelaide resident Paul Jansen filmed one of the cuddly creatures lapping up water on the side of the road — saying it stayed there for more than 15 minutes.
“I’ve had dogs before that would lap up water for one to two minutes and then be on their way again, so the koala must have really needed a drink,” he told ABC News Australia.
