Hurricane Irma forced the US House of Representatives to cancel its scheduled voting session Monday, lawmakers said.

There were expected to be a “large number of absences” as a result of the storm, largely from reps returning to DC, the House majority leader’s office said Sunday.

The first votes of the week will instead happen at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Washington Examiner.

By contrast, the Senate had not cancelled its Monday voting session, which is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

It’s not clear what bills will be voted on.

The hurricane made landfall on Marco Island, Fla., as a Category 3 on Sunday evening.
