WASHINGTON — The House Judiciary Committee plans to hold a hearing in the next few weeks on the rise of white nationalism.
Officials from within the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI are expected as key witnesses.
A spokesman for Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), who heads the committee, did not immediately return a call for comment.
One lawmaker told The Daily Beast, which reported on the hearing, that it’s expected to be held in early April.
After the New Zealand shooting, in which a white nationalist targeted Muslims at mosques, President Trump said he didn’t think the ideology was on the rise.
“I don’t really. I think it’s a small group of people that have very, very serious problems,” Trump said at the time.
