Many who found the hands-free scooter under the tree ended up in the emergency room on Friday night — and took to Twitter to recount the experience for their followers.

“Cousin got a hover board for xmas, my aunt tried it, fell, broke her wrist and is now at the hospital and needs surgery. #MerryChristmas.” tweeted @Walll_iE.

Hoverboards — which, despite the name, don’t actually hover but rather roll on the ground — are proving difficult to master by those without a good sense of balance.

“Merry Xmas to u all. Partic my son Max now in hospital in Adelaide having smashed wrist after fall from #hoverboard,” tweeted Jon Sopel of the BBC.

But they’re not the only toy that should come with a warning.

Per Twitter user @sperrydean: “I was doing fine on my new hoverboard until my brother’s new drone took me out. #hoverboard #hospital.”
